SNSD released their 1st Japanese album titled "Girls' Generation" on June 1st and achieved #1 on the Oricon Weekly Chart in its first week of release with over 230,000 units sold. They broke TaTu's record by being the first foreign female group to reach #1 with over 230,000 units of their albums sold in their first week.
For the month of June, it was revealed by Oricon that SNSD took #2 on the Oricon Monthly Chart with 411,972 units sold following Japanese girl group AKB48 with 715,722 units sold.
Even now, SNSD continues to chart in the Oricon Daily and Weekly Chart at 11th and 6th (28,026 units sold) respectively.
SNSD's popularity has soared over the past couple of months, generating over $32 million USD in revenue solely from their Japanese singles, DVDs, and a variety of other merchandises.
