This year has been the year of travels for one of Korea's top girl groups, SNSD. From SM Town in Paris to Phuket to Guam to Jeju and their multi-city tour in Japan, the girls of SNSD have traveled more than fifty times to and from one location to another as they strive to complete their schedules. As artists that are at the forefront of spreading K-pop internationally, travel has been expected of SNSD as they rise to the challenge of meeting their growing global appeal.
However, their travel has taken a toll on their members, as there have been incidents during their Japanese tours where the girls' endurance were tested. In several of their concerts, numerous girls were ill or feeling unwell. It was reported that Sooyoung and Jessica experienced illnesses, where one day Sooyoung performed with over an 100 degree Fahrenheit fever and Jessica performed with a sore throat. The most infamous case is the Saitama concert, during which Sunny had to leave the concert and abandon her solo performance and return later, as she was rushed to the hospital during the concert. However, determined to return and give the fans her all, Sunny returned at the end and tearfully apologized, explaining that she was sorry that she could not give her performance and that although the nine girls of SNSD were not all 100% healthy, they still wanted to stand on stage and give their love to their fans.
