SNSD once again proved their growing global influence by headlining a section in a New York newspaper. The Girls are featured in an article titled “K-Pop’s Secret Weapon” in the “Your New York” section of the New York Daily News. The section is headlined “Attack of the K-Pop Stars,” in which inside articles discuss how Korean music reaches other audiences.
SNSD member Sooyoung graces the section’s cover.
The feature coincides with SNSD’s arrival in New York, to join labelmates in the one-night-only concert “SM Town Live in New York” at the Madison Square Garden. Madison Square Garden is a concert venue well-known for hosting music superstars Michael Jackson, Beyonce and Lady Gaga.
The SNSD article in the New York Daily News, in particular, discusses the appeal of K-Pop and how the artists’ rigorous years of training results in top-notch performances. It also briefly touches on the chart-topping success of “Gee” in Korea. It also describes the Girls’ similar achievements in Japan, how they caught the eye of international record label Interscope through SNSD’s latest track “The Boys” after its worldwide release.
SNSD are in the spotlight lately with the success of “The Boys” and their Korean comeback. “The Boys,” was written and produced by Teddy Riley, who also worked with Michael Jackson and Lady Gaga in the past.
The New York Daily News is one of the two largest tabloids in the New York city area with a criculation over half a million per day.
