110801 Songs Impossible to Listen to with a Straight Face Anymore Because of K-Pop: Batch

Welcome back, Soompiers, to the sixth batch of "Songs Impossible to Listen to with a Straight Face Anymore Because of K-Pop." Today is a SNSD's "Tell Me Your Wish/Genie" special. "Tell Me Your Wish" has been one of the most parodied songs during the past couple of years, and many of you have made suggestions of other celebrities and their unique rendition of the song. Enjoy.

1. "You're Beautiful" Cast

This is a classic; I figure you've all watched this at least once. I absolutely adore the drama, and I must admit that I've watched the drama more times than I can count on one hand. Teehees. No shame! If there's anything that's a little disappointing is the short length of the parody. I genuinely wish it were longer. I want to see Lee Hongki be Jessica a little longer, as well as Jung Yong Hwa be all pretty looking and be Tiffany a little longer. To be quite frank, I find it annoying that the three of the guys pull off the girly look better than most girls. Oy. Thank you to everyone who suggested this!

110801 The Aspiring Artist: A Portrait of Tiffany for Her 22nd (23rd) Birthday

With all the events Girls' Generation has been doing, it was quite easy for all of us to overlook the dates and months that were passing by. As we enter the eighth month of the year, SONEs are delighted to celebrate one of the nine angels, Tiffany's 22nd (23rd) birthday. Many would look at Tiffany as the girl who has grown out of her bubbly self but we often forget the unique side of the girl that set her off in the first place: Tiffany's artistic side.

It's been four years since Stephanie Hwang started going by the name "Tiffany", and Tiffany has proved to the whole SONE population (and most importantly herself) that she is capable of growing into a memorable artist. Since she started her career at such a young age, she had to push away her normal teenage life in order to engulf herself in endless training sessions. During those times, she would always hold on to her dreams and keep pursuing them.

“It's as much passion as you have, just follow it, and you can be where you want to be. I mean, I am.”

110731 SNSD's Jessica flies to New York

This year has been the year of travels for one of Korea's top girl groups, SNSD. From SM Town in Paris to Phuket to Guam to Jeju and their multi-city tour in Japan, the girls of SNSD have traveled more than fifty times to and from one location to another as they strive to complete their schedules. As artists that are at the forefront of spreading K-pop internationally, travel has been expected of SNSD as they rise to the challenge of meeting their growing global appeal.

However, their travel has taken a toll on their members, as there have been incidents during their Japanese tours where the girls' endurance were tested. In several of their concerts, numerous girls were ill or feeling unwell. It was reported that Sooyoung and Jessica experienced illnesses, where one day Sooyoung performed with over an 100 degree Fahrenheit fever and Jessica performed with a sore throat. The most infamous case is the Saitama concert, during which Sunny had to leave the concert and abandon her solo performance and return later, as she was rushed to the hospital during the concert. However, determined to return and give the fans her all, Sunny returned at the end and tearfully apologized, explaining that she was sorry that she could not give her performance and that although the nine girls of SNSD were not all 100% healthy, they still wanted to stand on stage and give their love to their fans.
