110724 Are girl groups the new generation of K-Pop?
Girl groups have been slowly taking over the K-Pop industry. It's been two years since the first huge influx of girl groups and they are still taking over music charts.
Today, we can see that most music charts have girl group songs ranked as first. 2NE1's "Hate You" shows as ranking first on MNET, Bugs, Dosirak, Soribada, and other music ranking charts. Also, miss A's "Good Bye Baby" has taken over the charts at second place. On the Melon music ranking, miss A is at 1st place.
AS Red's "Night Sky," AS Blue's "Wonder Boy," and T-ara's "Roly Poly" can all be seen at 2nd place in many different music charts. Other than songs from the show "Infinity Challenge," the only boy group song that has been able to keep its spot is HOMME's "Man Should Laugh."
Even performance stages are covered with girl groups. SNSD's concert was seen gathering fans from not only Asia, but all around the world. SNSD has even been holding their 2011 SNSD Tour. This tour has attracted thousands of fans.
Through their Japanese Tour, SNSD has already gathered 14,000 fans and in their Korean concert, they performed their hit songs as well as their double platinum songs from Japan. They also had their own solo performances. Each highlight stage was also posted on their Facebook account.
2NE1 will be the next girl group to show off the power of girl groups. They are planning on holding their own "NOLZA (Let's Play)" concert. The concert, which will be held twice, had it's tickets sell out quickly, leaving many sad fans without tickets. Their concert has high expectations, just as SNSD's concert.
When will it be the time for boy groups to dominate the charts again?
